hier is eigenlijk nooit onderzoek naar gedaan. Om niet afhankelijk te zijn van suggesties van dropouts zelf (in bijv. interviews) wordt gezocht naar structural categories of reasons associated with dropout. Er is gebruik gemaakt van general systems theory van von Bertalanffy. Er zijn vijf categorien van variabelen: intrinsic motivation, extrensic motivation, capabilities, intrinsic constraints, extrensic constraints. Deze worden uitgelegd.
in de conclusies staat: the situational dynamics of adult education and the results of previous research suggest that is highly unlikely that one or two variables can be found that will adequately explain and predict dropout behaviour.
it must be emphasized that the role of the theoretical framework and typology is to provide the necessary structure to cope with the inherent complexity of human behaviour.
